Landon is driven by a desire to show the world the beauty of the Northern Canadian Landscape – how he is influenced by it and how he connects with it on a personal level. In particular, his work reveals the rugged beauty of the Canadian Shield and the vastness of the prairie provinces. Man’s footprint in and on these places speaks to him and is reflected in his paintings. The colour he can extract from the landscape and the linear expression of old buildings have an aesthetic beauty that connects with him, which he is able to share in his work.
“No man can roam or inhabit the Canadian North without it affecting him, and the artist, because of his constant habit of awareness and his discipline in expression, is perhaps more understanding of its moods and spirit than others are.” — Lawren Harris
